Heirloom Gold Wedding Ring Making Workshop – A Beautiful Journey of Craft and Meaning

Last week, I hosted a very special wedding ring-making workshop with a wonderful couple who brought in their own heirloom gold to create rings filled with personal history and new memories...

Before the workshop, we had a consultation to go over the key details—checking finger sizes, deciding on ring widths and profiles as well as scheduling the workshop date to suit their schedules.

The workshop itself is a private experience—just the couple and me in the studio—so they had the space to relax, focus, and enjoy every step of the process together. To make the day even more memorable, a bespoke afternoon tea lunch for two is provided, along with plenty of tea, coffee, and I promise… all the fun!

On the day of the workshop, the creative part began! Textures are always chosen in the studio, so the couple had the chance to experiment with a variety of hammers and tools to find the texture that felt most “them.” It’s a fun and hands-on way to make sure each ring is completely unique.

The remodelling process began with their heirloom gold—carefully testing and weighing it before melting it down into a pool of glowing, molten metal. Watching the gold transform and then pouring it into an ingot mould...always a particularly satisfying moment. From there, the gold was rolled out to the desired width and shape, ready to be crafted into wedding bands.

Scroll through the images below to see the transformation—from meaningful family gold to beautifully handcrafted rings, made with intention, laughter, and love.

Creating wedding rings using own gold

Remodelling your own jewellery into wedding rings allows you to carry the sentiment and history of cherished pieces into your next chapter—creating deeply personal, sustainable rings that honour your past while celebrating your future together.  It was an absolute joy to help L & Z bring their vision to life and guide them in creating such precious and meaningful wedding rings.
